The Mizell Center for Seniors Manages The Desert Hot Springs Senior Center. Learn All About It.

Posted on May 23, 2022

Mizell Center is a non-denominational, 501(c)3 organization that has been serving the senior community in the greater Palm Springs area since 1974.  An acknowledged leader in active aging, Mizell’s multi-faceted network of programs and services is designed to encourage creativity, promote lifelong learning and sustain an active and engaged lifestyle. Most importantly, Mizell’s welcoming space offers community and kinship for seniors from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.

In and for the community, Mizell Center’s social services include the largest Meals on Wheels program in the Coachella Valley and a Case Management program specifically tailored to the needs of seniors.

Our Meals on Wheels Senior Nutrition Program staff prepare and deliver 600 meals every weekday to homebound seniors, as well as to up to 8 other senior and community centers in support of their communal lunch programs, on routes that span the Valley from Whitewater all the way to the Salton Sea.

Our Case Management program is a very personalized approach to well-being at every touchpoint; shelter, food, comfort and physical and mental health.  Through their assessments, our Case Managers connect vulnerable seniors with critical community resources and local and government services.  Case Management services are free for any Coachella Valley senior age 62+ who is in need of a helping hand.

We invite seniors in the greater Palm Springs area to join Mizell Center to take advantage of our members-only discounts on our year-round classes and programs. Membership is not required, however, to participate in all that Mizell has to offer. Seasonal residents and guests are warmly welcomed.
