The Department provides a variety of community resources, offering its technical expertise to those in the community who want to organize neighborhood watch programs, need crime prevention materials, child safety materials, tours of the agency, or specialized presentations on Department operations. In 2011, our Agency was a winner of the James Q. Wilson award for our Community Policing Initiative.
As employees in the “SPA” city, we are committed to Safety, Professionalism, and Accountability (SPA).
A Message from the Chief of Police
October 14, 2021
As we approach the end of 2021, the Department is preparing for many different construction projects that will occur in 2022. The City of Desert Hot Springs is currently the fastest growing city in the Coachella Valley and these new additions will help ensure the safety and service the City’s residents have come to expect.
These projects include a new Dispatch Center, Detectives’ Section, Briefing/Training Room, locker rooms, crime scene lab, and additional office space. The improvements will be made through a remodel of the existing Police Station and the addition of a new adjacent building.
The Desert Hot Springs Police Department is currently accepting applications for Police Officer. The Department offers a wide variety of job assignments within the agency, including Routine Patrol, Investigations, K-9 Officer, Motor Officer, Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT), and School Resource Officer (SRO). We also participate in task forces to combat drugs and gangs. As the City continues to grow, other opportunities will become available.
The Department strives to make the City of Desert Hot Springs a great place to live, play, work, and visit!
Sincerely,
Jim Henson
Chief of Police
