DESERT HOT SPRINGS MAYOR SCOTT MATAS AND THE DHS CITY COUNCIL PROCLAIM JUNE AS LGBTQ+ PRIDE MONTH.  IT’S A BIG DEAL.

Posted on June 22, 2022

In a ceremony held just before the start of the City’s June 21st City Council Meeting, Desert Hot Springs Mayor Scott Matas and the Desert Hot Springs City Council proclaimed June as LGBTQ+ Pride Month. This is just one more example of how our elected officials value and support all residents of Desert Hot Springs, and have the courage and determination to show it. It’s also one more example of why California is without a doubt the most welcoming state for the LGBTQ+ community, and why Desert Hot Springs is where everyone should call home.

“NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, that the members of the City of Desert Hot Springs City Council declare the month of June 2022 as LGBTQ+ Pride Month in the City of Desert Hot Springs, recognizing that all members of the LGBTQ community are welcome in Desert Hot Springs, and urging residents to recognize the contributions made by members of the LGBTQ+ community and to actively promote the principles of equality, liberty, and justice for all.”

The Proclamation was presented to DiversityDHS with members of the organization and the community in attendance.  Proclamations like this don’t happen every day, especially when they deal with controversial issues, so this Proclamation is a big deal for the LGBTQ community of DHS, and it’s much appreciated.  Thank you Mayor Matas and City Council.
