Clean-up Days Return to Desert Hot Springs

AS TEMPERATURES COOL, CLEAN-UP DAYS RETURN TO DESERT HOT SPRINGS

Now that the weather is cooling down, we are resuming our school cleanups for this school year starting with Bubbling Wells Elementary School on Saturday, Oct. 28th starting at 8 a.m., the Rev. Jackie Devereaux announced this week.

Devereaux has led numerous successful cleanups in the community.

This year, Marines from Twentynine Palms Marine Base have again committed to helping the volunteers.

Join Mayor Scott Matas, Mayor Pro Tem Roger Nunez and the Desert Hot Springs Beautification Committee along with teachers, parents, students, U.S. Marines and city volunteers to pick up trash, sweep sidewalks, rake leaves and perform other general cleaning on and around Bubbling Wells Elementary School.

The DHS Beautification Committee is a volunteer committee co-chaired by James Nindel and Reverend Jackie Devereaux. Their goal is to help residents (of at least three years) who are financially challenged, elderly, disabled, or veterans, law enforcement and first responders fix up their homes.

DHS Mayor Scott Matas formed the committee in 2022 but refocused their efforts from picking up trash on empty lots to focus on local schools, businesses, and owner-occupied homes for general cleanup, landscaping, painting, fence, window and garage door repairs.

Water, juice and healthy snacks will be provided by the Beautification Committee.

To volunteer, contact Jackie Devereaux at (619) 855-7905.
