QUEERWORKS – Ameliorating Disparities Faced By The LGBTQ+ Community
Posted on May 20, 2022
Queer works is a 501c (3) organization with headquarters in the Coachella Valley. While we work out of CV, thanks to telehealth we are able to serve individuals all across California.
Our mission is to ameliorate disparities faced by transgender, gender non-binary and intersex people as well as help reduce similar disparities among our lesbian, gay and bisexual communities.
Common disparities include homelessness, joblessness, mental health and medical challenges, higher rates of suicide, and higher rates of poverty.
Common causes of these disparities include discrimination in housing, employment and healthcare, risk of community violence, family rejection, stigma and religious rejection.
Our vision is to demolish barriers preventing access to affirmative mental health services for the LGBTQ+ community by way of program development, training and connection to existing services.
The executive director and founder, Jacob Rostovsky, MA, LMFT, also sits on boards of other non-profit organizations and has a network of individuals who have experience growing organizations.

The team is made up of licensed clinicians, past non-profit volunteers and founders, intern clinicians and LGBTQ+ community members who have experienced their mental health challenges. The team knows first-hand why affordable, affirmative and accessible psychotherapy is important to the community.
